WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHILD LABOR IN HONDURAS?
Almost 50% of of Honduran families are single-parent families and do not receive any State allowances. Because of this, children are forced to be the breadwinners of the family. Poverty in Honduras is one of the key contributors to child labor. The lack of clean drinking water prevents kids from attending school. They are forced to drop out of school and fetch water miles away from their homes for their families or manufacturing sites. This is a form of child labor. Factory, plantation, mine, and fishing company owners that employ these children are the main cause of the continuation of child labor. The more factories, plantations, mines and fishing companies there are, the more employees they will need. Another large contributor are men who are trafficking children. It is difficult to end child labor in Honduras when the employers don't show any respect towards the children.
