Carlos, 8
Carlos, an 8 year old boy, works in the mountains of El Paraiso, Honduras picking ripe red coffee beans. He picks about 66lbs of beans a day and has a wadge of 8 dollars a day. The money Carlos makes, he gives to his mother. Carlos was hired because adults cannot bare the mountains dangerous conditions. There are down pours, mud slides, steep ravines, and chilly winds.

Darwin, 14
Darwin is 14 years old and works on the same plantation as Carlos. Darwin is lucky enough to work alongside his father. They both are trying to make enough money to buy some clothes. His goal is to have enough money for clothes by Christmas Eve. Darwin has just finished elementary school but cannot further his education because his family does not have the money to do so.

Rosita, 15
Rosita is 15 years old and sells tortillas without adult supervision. She has to "grind the corn, make the tortillas, draw the water and clean the house. (lo-de-alla)" Rosita cannot attend school because she has to make a living for her family. Rosita has a dream of one day making enough money and opening a tortilla factory.
